I mentioned this in RAH's Children of the Corn/Django thread, but I watched the Spaceballs 4K UHD the other night and felt that the combination of 4K and HDR really only served to emphasize and exaggerate the film grain, as if we're seeing every particle on the emulsion well beyond relevant picture detail. I cannot believe that anyone who made the movie wanted it to look so grainy. It's frequently distracting.
The movie's flat lighting also doesn't gain much benefit from HDR.
The accompanying Blu-ray, from the same master, seems to manage the grain better without much difference in actual picture detail. It may be a preferable viewing experience for me.
