I thought you were referring to the 4K SDR master that MGM made back in 2017? (Redeem code, I mean. Apologies)

Honestly, I don't know. I've never watched those 4K SDR versions.

Fandango at Home/Vudu claims that I own "4K Ultra HD," but the app automatically upscales everything to 4K regardless of how it originated, so I can't validate if that's correct. The Fandango copy of Dr. No measures 1.66:1 (like the Blu-ray), whereas the 4K UHD disc is closer to 1.75:1, so I'm pretty confident that they're different masters. During the "Three Blind Mice" section of the opening credits, the UHD is a little tighter on the top of the frame, whereas Fandango is a pretty close match to the Blu-ray framing.

If the first three bonds are 1.66:1 and Digital (i.e. Amazon, iTunes, Fandango etc.) then I can better Identify that is the 2017 4K SDR.

Guys, we've said repeatedly in these Bond threads that the 4K digitals haven't been upgraded yet from these recent 4K scans of the OCNs. If and when they're upgraded, we will shout to the heavens so that all can hear about it.
I am indeed aware, that they've not been upgraded, generally speaking, I'm simply saving some dough, observing, following the trail and spewing the info what I have in mind, if there is a post that I feel needs to be replied (not forgeting to maintain a sober tone and healthy dialogue)

First glance observations on the UHDs:

A) The UHD of "Diamonds Are Forever" (1971) of Mr. Kidd on flames (unsurprisingly) contains the same middle section of alternate shot Tiffany looking away in disgust [present in the OCN], as the majority home videos do (except for the 1982 WHV DE "P&S" VHS, film element of uncensored section on that edition, unknown [from an Interpositive, perhaps? please back me up for this one])

B) The UHD's Mono mixes that I've checked so far, hasn't demonstrated to my ears' satisfaction in beating the selected VHS/LD/DVD mixes (waiting to hear a word if the Remastered Mono [Mix B] is a downmix of the Remastered Dolby Atmos [Mix B])

In short, I think we could perhaps ask the audio experts for their opinion on that, my findings are not final, so I'm not qualified to conclude them.

Thank you :)

Why don't you just buy this 4K/UHD boxset to seek the answers to your questions that have repeatedly been asked by you.

Where at, got timecode, please?

My candidates to issue:

- Tilly Masterson section [at before Reel 3 comes in]?
- Attempted Escape from Oddjob?
- Before Mr. Solo's demise?

Interesting anecdote on some BTS on the Lowry restoration...
I won't forget it :)

Just out of curiosity:

A) Do you suppose the LDs (either Criterion or MGM/UA) used an interpositive element rather than the OCN?
B) Do you believe Lowry were bit too linear by relying just to the OCN rather than digging though all the necessary elements required for a definitive frame-complete restoration of their time? (including restoration of cut footage made by either BBFC or MPAA)
It's right after Oddjob "misses the turn" in the black car, approx 1:17:25.

A) I have no idea what was used for the LD, but I think Lowry claimed to use the OCN.
B) Probably. The explanation by the Lowry employee confused me, as I couldn't understand how a source used to make an LD master would contain frames that were apparently missing from the OCN? And if the frames were missing from the OCN, why weren't they replaced using another source?

The Criterion Laserdisc still has a little jump in it to my eyes. If they are damaged frames, it seems MGM binned them long ago but you never know with Peter Hunt... perhaps its deliberate so as to push the pace. Might be tricky but would need to cross-reference with the cue length of "Oddjobs Pressing Engagement"
In the previous thread I remember some people saying that it looks like the frames were damaged on the LD version because they danced around a bit, which you can see very clearly if you do a frame-advance. Someone actually posted a jpeg showing the entire strip of the LD frames that were missing from the blu-ray. But that doesn't really explain why they were missing from the OCN that Lowry supposedly used.

Has anyone redeemed their digital codes to see if you have the new 4K Dolby Vision HDR versions?

Have you contacted Fandango At Home support?

Have you contacted Fandango At Home support?

Since Tuesday afternoon when first got the Digital Code and redeemed it on WB Digital Redemption Redeem. I called Fandango immediately. I have called them 5 times and spoke to all women with accents. (I guess No Men work for Fandango.) .......They gave me a case number and are escalating my case to a higher level. (Wow!) ....They need 3 to 5 working business days to Investigate. All I can do is Wait. (What else is New) .........The End

In that shot I posted, the tops of the hats are slightly clipped on the UHD, compared to the Blu-ray. The image still has some pillarbox bars, but smaller than the Blu-ray. It looks to be about 1.75:1.

The 4K Lowry Bond's on FaH can be identified by the animated MGM logo at the front while the HD Blu-rays have a static MGM logo. Also, the 4K Thunderball uses the now jettisoned Mi Casa 5.1 mix which wasn't even used on the Blu-ray.

We watched You Only Live Twice last night and I thought the disc was spectacular. It was the most I've enjoyed the movie in quite a long time. I watched it in Atmos and even found that inoffensive.

Hopefully they can resolve it soon. I’m guessing many others are having trouble accessing their digital copies. I,ve only had one experience with Vudu / fandango and it wasn’t great.

Baseball last night but hopeful to see Goldfinger soon.

For both Dr. No and Russia I listened to the new Atmos audio. Both sounded very clean to me. I should go back and sample the original audio mixes for both films….
