Respect, the bio-pic about the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, gets the job done nicely, especially with a lovely performance from Jennifer Hudson.
Interestingly, released not in 4k, but Blu-ray, along with a sonically huge Dolby Atmos track, it's a Blu-ray from Universal that works on all levels. Shot digitally, with some shots via 16mm.
Bio-pics can be awkward animals, especially if the subject is either alive or has recently passed, and Respect falls into the uncomfortable area in which a performer must do their best to bring the persona of the subject to the screen at a time when everyone knows what they looked and sounded like.
There have been some truly wonderful bio-pics of music legends:
Think Bohemian Rhapsody, Ray, Yankee Doodle Dandy, Walk the Line...
And the opposite, in which one gets dialogue like "And then we sat down and wrote..."
Think Night & Day.
In any case, this one works.

Audio – 5 (Dolby Atmos)
Pass / Fail – Pass
Highly Recommended
