Quackser Fortune is one of those sweet little films that seems to disappear, but has returned thanks to VCI Entertainment.

I've not seen it since its original release, and at that time it brought to mind the British "Kitchen sink" films of the 1960s, which were mostly in black & white, and generally a bit angry.

Here we find ourselves at the tail end of that genre - 1970 - in color, and a sweet love story.

Presented in 1.66 aspect ratio, which is incorrectly noted on the packaging as 1.33, the new Blu-ray is overall a very nice package. Not certain what the element might be. Not the oriiginal negative, as there are very light positive scratches - most won't notice them - duriig the main title sequence. Color and densities are just fine, although it won't win any awards.

Gene Wilder, Margot Kidder are the unlikely couple.

A fun little film, and worth your attention.

This had a reissue in 1982 from 21st Century Distribution under the wonderfully generic title “Fun Loving.” Same outfit reissued “The Bird with the Crystal Plumage” as “Phantom of Terror” the week prior.

Glad to hear the Blu-ray is at least fine. The last release of the film was a 1999 DVD from VCI. Such a charming film and shot by Gilbert Taylor, no less.

Director Waris Hussein is probably far better known for some TV work he did in 1963...

Waris Hussein (& Sidney J. Furie) movies are always worth checking out. They are unconventional directors that bring something fresh to a story. I particularly like A Touch Of Love &, of course, The Ipcress File, as being the very best examples. Both are available on Blu-ray. Cheers!
