I'll put it out there in the first graph.

I love this film. Always have.

Lombard and Montgomery are wonderful together, and Hitchcock proved that he could direct screwball comedy, with a dark twist.

With an image harvested from a Nitrate fine grain master, I was hard-pressed to tell if it was original or dupe, except for the dupes.

Gray scale and black levels are superb. Film grain perfect.

Short and sweet, this is a great film, and should be acquired by more than just Hitchcock or Lombard aficionados. It has a great screenplay by Norman Krasna (Indiscreet), great cinematography by Harry Stradling, and was exec produced by Harry E. Edington.

Okay.

You're wondering who Mr. Edington was. I had to look him up. But he receives a big credit up front. Behind a few earlier credits, he was exec prod on Kitty Foyle and Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and uncredited producer on Suspicion. An interesting case for further study.

Unfortunately, Miss Lombard, who was married to an actor at the time, made only one further motion picture.

Audio is fine.

Thank you for your review. I received my Blu-ray today and will watch it in the near future. I'll try to do some video comparisons between this Blu-ray and the iTunes HD digital I purchased several years ago. Without a doubt, it won't be a fair comparison.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith was the last American-period Hitchcock film I hadn't yet upgraded to blu-ray, so I snapped this up as soon as I heard it was available. The disc looks pretty good so far.

Sorry to ask this, I'm sure it has been mentioned somewhere but I don't know where.
What do Forensic and NSD mean, that I see lately in Mr. Harris's reviews?

In RAH lingo:

"Forensic" = Nit-picky, pixel-peeping scrutiny with your nose pressed to the screen and the bit-rate meter on display.

"NSD" = Nominal Seating Distance, i.e. a somewhat more realistic expectation for how a viewer would actually watch the disc.

Couldn’t have said it better.
