Tonight on BBC Four we’ve got the start of a P&P season- ‘I know where I’m going’ followed by ‘Life and death of Colonel Blimp’

‘I know where I’m going’

If I hadn't seen 'Made in England' I probably wouldn't have bothered with this. Watching it last night, I was struck by the elemental landscapes filmed on location in Scotland that nevertheless reminded me of 'Ryan's Daughter'. What a shame there was no technicolour film available! The story is a bit Austen/Shakespeare but it kept me entertained.
On next to Colonel Blimp.....

My wife and I saw I Know Where I'm Going over 5 decades ago. We show it (or recommend) it to friends. If they don't fall under its charms, then they go down a notch as film lovers (or lovers, period). We're glad Scorsese feels the same way. Everything about this film makes you feel grateful to be alive and in love.
