Thirty years after the release of Neil Jordan's feature version of Anne Rice's bestseller, AMC has re-visited the work, with the creation of a (thus far) three season series. Ms Rice was initially involved in the re-birth of the series.

Shot digitally, and in the recently (once again) popular 2:1 aspect ration, I was able to sample the UK release via Acorn - a single package with both Seasons 1 & 2 on five discs.

For the record, the UK release plays freely on R1 equipment here in the Colonies.

Image quality is superb, causing me (from a NSD) to double check as to whether I might inadvertently be playing a 4k disc. It was not. The only Very minor problems I encountered may have been occasional loss of shadow detail in very dark sequences, which (as far as I know) may have been part of the design.

Colors, shadow detail (noted), black levels are all extremely pleasing, and the DTS-HD MA 5.1 track creates a wonderfully immersive experience.
