A RAH thread where some random person with less than 100 posts completely disagrees and takes a hostile position? Must be...Thursday.
What, no Laurel and Hardy Handshake ;)!

Maybe RAH is actually watching the disc on his high quality JVC RS3000 front projector and OLED instead of reading bit rates.

And there are almost countless discs which have lower bit rates yet are encoded better than discs with higher rates. It's also how bits are used.

Regarding the use of DNR, you are the first I've read about this even being an issue - especially on The Last Crusade.
I heard he was still using his 1940’s RCA CRT tube television ?

I see it's down to 63 dollars on Amazon. I don't understand why Amazon doesn't reward early pre-orders with a lower price rather than waiting until long after it's released to reward people who buy it much later.

Thank he model on pricing has changed a lot in recent years.

I’ve noticed that there is low pricing on preorder for a while then the preorder price can jump too ( Star Trek 1-4 4k set)

Of course prices usually drop lower the longer an item is out and sales too.

Which is why I buy most of my discs at Best Buy. As an elite member I have 45 days to price match as many times as I want.

That's why I just wait and buy it several months after release. It's an established fact for many years that prices drop over time.
I generally end up buying a disc pretty much out of the gate but this one seems like a guarantee to get a big price drop around the holidays. Between that, not having 4K capability and this not having a Blu-ray, it's an easy one for me to wait for.

It's not some kind of reward. You got it earlier and got to enjoy it earlier/longer than others at a price you were apparently satisfied enough (and was only guaranteed their best price up until street date), so what's the problem? It's not like they dropped the price just a few days after street date afterall -- it's over 1-1/2 month now. And those who waited generally have no real idea how long the wait will be beyond making decent guesses about the holiday shopping season, which was ~1/2 year away.

Some people actually even pay full retail for certain items just because they want whatever fast and easy/convenient w/out having to shop for better prices at all. It's their prerogative... but they're gonna pay for that...

I've watched Raiders and 'Doom (JVC FP + Stewart ST100 scope screen 9 feet wide + Panasonic 820 player) and both discs looked great. Filmic, far better natural color (especially with Raiders vs the original BD), and much better detail. Audio excellent on both although the bass felt a little low on Raiders, but everything really nice. These are really nice upgrades from the BD.
