I think it is worded very well and making the point that the Warner Archive actually chooses productions that are worthy of a UHD release which is much appreciated as far as I am concerned.

I thought he was making a dig at other studios releasing films in 4K that really don't need it.

To be clear, even if a film doesn’t cry out for, or has no intrinsic need of a 4k release, doesn’t make it a bad thing. For important films, even a tiny bit of increase in resolution or control of black or color levels can be appreciated.

If the viewer has the requisite viewing system.

My point is that WA selects its 4k releases wisely and for an impact that can be easily recognized even on lower end reproductive gear.

So Warner Archive has done final with a little company called Fidelity in Motion.
Does this mean that Warner is now willing to work with outside providers on film restoration? My recollection from discussions of their 3D holdings that they felt it was too expensive to restore some of them in house, but they would not go to an outside provider because they had a policy against going outside. Have things changed?

Fidelity in Motion does disc authoring, encoding, and compression.

Fidelity in Motion also did the encoding for The Searchers.

They worked with David Strohmaier (a.k.a. Mr. Cinerama) for the restoration of THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF THE BROTHERS GRIMM.

My copy arrived today. It may be a few days before I get to it because I have another six titles that arrived today.

But, because High Society is in 4K, you should move to the front of the line.

I am curious to know what you think.
Not when a few of my favorite films arrived today. I’m not a big fan of High Society and mainly purchased the 4K/UHD to support WA’s entry into the 4K/UHD format. I much prefer The Philadelphia Story.

I had made my own blu-ray from a recording of a TNT broadcast of a nice clean print that aired years ago. I can see from a quick glance at that blu-ray that it should be a beautiful 4K release and I'm looking forward to my copy getting here next week.

The two have very little in common.

They do, but they also do remastering work. For Imprint's A Bridge Too Far 4K release, they handled about 2/3 of the reels (the other third were outsourced, but FiM still ended up refining the work that was done by others). That was their first end-to-end digital restoration project, but it won't be their last.

Copied from an iPhone? Love those tiny pictures! They just needed to rotate the phone before copying.
It's from the Extras. I imagine it's a preview of an upcoming podcast, like they did for "The Searchers" 4K and "Rhapsody in Blue " but we will see.

I got my copy from Amazon and it did not have the previously mentioned slip case. As I am not a slip case collector that doesn't make much difference to me but is worth noting.

Likewise, and likewise—I’m not much for slipcases either.

I also received my copy from Bullmoose today - no slip (I don't care).

As with the other MGM Musicals, I have created a Custom Cover so that my collection matches
