I'd like to be able to say that Free Fire is a "terrific, slam, bang, action film!"

But I'm unable to do so.

Eric Cohn of Indiewire called it "The craziest shootout of all time"

To me, it's 90 minutes of unnecessarily violent, nihilistic drivel, without a single true rationale for a storyline.

Consider it The Hateful 13.

But in an old umbrella factory, sometime in the mid-1970s, in Boston, and without a plausible storyline...

or Ultra Panavision 70.

What we learn is that illegal firearms and drugs don't mix, especially when every single participant is an ignominious lowlife, with minimal intellectual capacity.

While filmmaker, Ben Wheatley, has tried for some dark humour, it doesn't pay off.

Lionsgate's Blu-ray is fine, with perfect imagery and audio. But when aren't their releases of high quality?

Image - 5

Audio - 5 (DTS-HD MA 5.1)

4k Up-rez - 5

Pass / Fail - Pass

Oh, my...
