So I bought this blindly (as I have been for many of the titles that I read about here). I have not seen many of the classic movies and this was my first time seeing Gene Kelly and 2nd time seeing Judy Garland (you can guess what other film I've seen her in).
I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it. Mr. Kelly is bursting with charm & talent and I really liked Ms. Garland. I actually wasn't planning to watch the movie so much as check out the transfer but it sucked me in. I suppose the transfer, which looked stupendously good on my projection setup, played a role in that. I am fast becoming a fan of B&W. The detail and contrast is very very impressive. Wow.
Welcome to the Judy club. 'For Me and My Gal' is my favourite ... my wife goes for another you should sample ... 'A Star is Born' with James Mason. The second version of the movie, not the earlier one with Janet Gaynor.
