The Secrets of Dumbledore is the 3rd film in the wonderfully entertaining Fantastic Beasts series, which began in 2016, with ... and Where to Find Them.
That was followed two years hence with The Crimes of Grindelwald, and now Secrets.
Budgets seem to have gone up from the reported 180MM of the 2016 film to 200MM for the second and third outings, but reviews have gone down in quality.
All three, as well the the reported 4th and 5th, along with four of the Harry Potter films have been directed by David Yates, who seems to have gotten it down to a nice quality formula.
While not a stellar film, Warner's new 4k UHD disc shines, for fans of the series, as the film was shot digitally (which helps to blend the occasional effects shots) and finished as 4k DI. Which means that what was delivered, and seen on theater screens will also shine on your home theater equipment.
Dolby Atmos makes the most of creating the illusion of a far larger home theater space then one might actually have. It's a terrific track.
Image – 5 (Dolby Vision)
Audio – 5 (Dolby Atmos)
Pass / Fail – Pass
Plays nicely with projectors - Yes
Makes use of and works well in 4k - 5
