Based upon the play by William Inge, Daniel Mann's 1952 Come Back, Little Sheba, has arrived from Paramount via Kino, and it's a beautiful Blu-ray.

There are four stars in this film:

Burt Lancaster, Shirley Booth (in her original Broadway role), Terry Moore...

and James Wong Howe's beautiful black & white cinematography, that has been gorgeously rendered here.

Only oddity that I noted is the still frame main title sequence, with proper dissolves, but it appears to possibly have been replace aeons ago, as there is no original grain movement. It appears to be the transfer elements, and nothing to do with the image harvest. Not a problem. Simply odd.

A superb film, from a classic Broadway drama, brought to the screen in top form.

Possibly not for the Marvel Universe audience.

Awesome performance by Shirley Booth in this movie, as I can only imagine it was on stage. It must have been up there with Marlon Brando in Streetcar Named Desire or Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady as the performance in a role against which all others will be compared.

I have had the DVD for years. I will definitely upgrade to this Blu-ray version of it. Thank you for the review!

Marvellous film. I bought the Imprint which I assume is from the same master. It has the same main title issue. I noticed quite a bit of speckles on the image but not a problem. The Imprint has an excellent high quality slipcover with original artwork as an alternative cover - for those who value such things!

Great film with a much-deserved Oscar win for Shirley Booth, but you know whose performance in this really impressed me watching it this time? TERRY MOORE. She's sublime in this.
