The new Best Pictures Essentials 10-Movie Collection from Paramount is a great buy, no matter how one slices the facts.
For those uninterested in 4k, and toward the beginnings of gathering a cinema library, it's a gift from the gods.
Some titles didn't originate with Paramount, being either inherited or otherwise acquired.
The Greatest Show on Earth (1952), will be arriving shortly via Paramount.
So what's missing are The Godfather Part II and Ordinary People, which doesn't seem to have received a domestic Blu-ray release. Possibly it's no longer owned by Paramount, or is withheld for some other reasons.
That's along way 'round asking the question, "why ten?"
Is Blu-ray packaging produced as a five-clamshell? Might the two Godfather films have put in their own packaging?
But regardless, everyone one of these is worth owning, and are essential, and for $8 each, a no-brainer for those just beginning to collect.
Very Highly Recommended
