A Working Man is a Jason Statham film, directed by David Ayer, and with a screenplay credit shared with Sylvester Stallone.
Anyone who has been around popcorn movies for a bit, would know where this is going.
Fact is, that a just short of two hours, the film works and succeeds on its own terms.
The lead is well played by Mr. Stratham, but we could just as easily be discussing this film with Liam Neeson, Mr. Stallone, or several others who work the kidnapping/revenge genre.
Shot digitally with Panavision optics, it looks great in 4k, and sounds superb as bullets fly in Dolby Atmos.
One thing that kept coming to mind during viewing - what's with the moon?
For slipcover addicts, this one is well designed and not for recycling. A highly resolved image of Mr. Statham is on the obverse below the title logotype, which in a combination of metallic printing, and a well selected color seems to jump off the cover.
It was initially rumored that the metallic, which appears copperish in color, may have been produced from melted down scraps from the restoration of the U.S.S. Constitution, but MGM / WB have both remained mum on the subject. Another source believed it to be spent 9mm brass, which to me would seem more appropriate.
Regardless, this slight will probably only be found on first printing examples, so be warned.
