Does anyone think it's worth it to give around 100 euros (it's approximately that to import from ebay) for the 4k of this when again I see just some different contrast and saturation but not more detail?

I already have the TT blu-ray. Well, it's not Eureka, but it's the same master, just with a bit worse encoding, as shown in caps-a-holic.
Sounds like the price is a bit high for an import, even if it is a very good film as this is. The decision depends on how much you value the potential improvements, on what medium you watch films, and if a collector or just seeking better quality.

Wolf Hall.
I have an event worse compulsion...I love the 4 season series "The Tudors"!
I love its extravagant sets and overlapping storylines. I think it also delivers top rate acting for a television production.
Somewhat criticized for its over reliance on sex to keep the 4 year series tantalizing, you have to ask yourself...in the time of Henry and Thomas Moore without TV, smart phones, recorded music or motion pictures, what would people do to occupy their time beyond studying religion and delivering authoritative speeches?
I just rewatched season 1 for the 4th time and still can't get enough of the intrigue and truly gorgeous art direction. The final episode of The Tudors is so poetic, I even watch it alone out of context with the preceding 4 seasons leading to its inevitable moments of judgement.

Don’t know where you’re located, but if it’s any country with iTunes you can buy the 4K for for less than 20€, maybe as low as 5 if you time it right

At 100 Euros I would pass. Better to get the whole set instead with another 9 movies.

Just checked for Germany and the total for the whole set from Amazon should come to about not come to much more than 170 Euros including import VAT.

So much better to get another 5 UHD movies and 4 more rare titles on Blu-ray for less than what was asked for Man for all Seasons alone.

It's a gorgeous disc in 4K with HDR. The contrast is strengthened but not exaggerated, and the highlights on Robert Shaw's gold robe when he confronts Paul Scofield at the riverbank are fantastic -- they're not necessarily any brighter, but they do seem to gleam more. I think it's the WCG that benefits this one as much as the HDR itself. The colors seem better resolved.

Yeah, I want 4 movies from this set, and I was ready to pay for ebay prices for each one.
If I get the box, I don't know what to do with it. (I can sell the other movies I don't want)
It will hurt my heart to toss it away! :D

I've bought all of the Sony Classics UHD boxes. As each of the films (bonus discs aside) has its own case, with sleeve, I file them on the shelves alongside all of my other BDs/UHDs, and display the boxes on the top of the bookcases.

There are five films on the bonus disc, which is authored as a UHD. The Belle of Broadway and The Desert Bride are in 2K resolution; The Price She Paid, Ladies of Leisure, and The Scarlet Lady are all in 4K.

So it's actually 8 UHD movies and 2 more BD movies.

That's even better then and a no-brainer if he wants 4 of the movies in the box set.

I have to admit that with the titles from the 20s thrown in I am now tempted even though I was initially underwhelmed by the title selection of the regular titles in this set that do not exactly come to mind when I think of stunning visuals.

How about just keeping it then :D

Great film but it anyone disputes that Richard Burton should have won th Oscar that year is WRONG!!!
I do think that Virginia Woolf is, by far, Burton's best film performance, with Iguana in second place. For me he was mostly too broad or too dull on film. I would have been fine with his winning, but it's hard to quibble with the superb performance by Scofield. My favorite performance by an actor on film is Jimmy Stewart's in IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE. Actress is Anne Bancroft's performance in THE MIRACLE WORKER. I can certainly see why many think it's Paul Scofield. I sure hate these box sets without individual releases. There hasn't been a single set that I've wanted. There are standalone titles in each set I would buy, instantly, and A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS is certainly one of them.

I absolutely adore the film but also throughly enjoy the series Wolf Hall with Cromwell’s story front and center. I only wish they had been able to continue it with series based on the other two books.

A blessing on thee for this good news. I get discouraged at times with BBC series getting dropped after a season or so. Beecham House was one I was enjoying and then …no more. I was afraid Wolf Hall was going to be another that whetted my appetite and then was gone.

I watched my digital copy of A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS yesterday afternoon.

This is the third time I have seen this film in four years. Before that, I never heard of it.

As a testament to the power of this forum, due to overwhelming accolades about this film, I purchased the disc blindly when Twilight Time released it on Blu-ray.

Without question, this is one of the most finely written and acted films ever made. With each viewing, I am mesmerized by Paul Scofiled's, calm and steadied performance. I find myself deeply moved by watching this man stand up for his ideals at all costs.

The cost to own this on a 4k disc was an expensive proposition given the fact I would have had to buy the Columbia set. Watching the 4k digital was a rewarding watch given its immaculate transfer that one would always expect from Sony.

Such a great film and I am thankful to this forum for making me aware of it.

The Twilight Time blu-ray of A Man For All Seasons was already a fine release for pq and audio, but this is even better. Looking at close-ups of John Hurt's youthful freckled face is worth something to me, as I've found JH compelling since seeing Alien on opening night in 1979. The colors and textures of the fabrics in 4k also pop in a way that's beyond the earlier blu-ray. The story, of course, is a poignant one.

For me these Columbia boxed sets offer good value. The six main movies in 4k with all the extras each seem worth around $25 each. Then the small hardcover book with specially-commissioned essays and rare photos is worth probably fifty dollars to me, because people who really know and love these films give their insights. Finally, there's the bonus disc with the silent films, which I'll probably enjoy at some point. Anyway, for the $139 I paid this seems like a worthwhile cinematic journey.
