99 River Street, a new Kino release is a quality 1953 noir featuring John Payne and Evelyn Keyes. It's directed by Phil Karlson and has as an extra a commentary by the great Eddie Muller.

I took a good look at this, trying to figure out what the source element might be. The gray scale is good enough, along with decent black levels, but it just seems a bit overly soft, leading me to believe it might be from a dupe.

It's more than okay, but nothing special.

Yeah, Kino has been periodically re-releasing certain titles. I'll probably double-dipped during one of their sales.

Below are the differences between this release and the one back in 2016:

NOTE: This is the same transfer as our 2016 release, but encoded at a higher bit rate and on a dual-layered BD50 disc, giving the feature 30mbps or more. So, it should look better than the previous release that was on a BD25 single layered disc. We added English subtitles and a slipcase.

One of the great things about Kino is that when they revisit, the quality generally rises.
