Just got the screener and hope to have the review finished tomorrow (at which time I'd like for this thread to be locked as discussion can continue in the review thread) but I just wanted to give you guys a snippet of my first impressions with the video...I just have to share...

The video quality of Cinderella is:

    PERFECT.

I'm dazzled and amazed. My jaw is still on the floor of my HT room where I hope to pick it back up this evening.

Audio is also very good, on par with what we have with Bambi (both the DEHT mix and the original mono track).

Extras are fantastic. Stay tuned for the HTF review...

BTW, RAH...have you had a chance to screen it yet? What are your own impressions? Just like Bambi, this raises the "film versus painted cell-artwork" debate but given the point of view that the cleanup that LDI has done is permissible...what are your thoughts???

I don't see any debate when it comes to the Disney animated films that have gone the Lowry route.

They are not restorations in any sense of the word.

They are "New Editions" which set the highest standards for animated film via digital technology.

As I've noted elsewhere, the original versions are protected with redundancy and are avilable for study. Should the Disney organization be so desirous, the films can be placed into theatrical distribution in either their original form or via the new Lowry Editions.

As entertainment value, we are only gaining in quality and transparency. This is a win-win situation.

Mr. Toell has advised that we claim total ownership within the known universe of the word "word" as well as "words."

We're now in the midst of copyrighting and trademarking the terms "film," "motion picture," "sprocket hole" and "Home Theatre Forum," not to be confused with a little known website "Home Theater Forum."

And are probably safe, as there are no attorneys in D.C.

Mr. Harris, do you own copyright to "Cinderalla"? [IMG]

Interestingly enough, if one inspects the packaging, it would appear that there is no copyright to Cinderella.

Being inclusive of copyright information may detract from timelessness.

This is, of course, a non-exhaustive list. Other protected terms, among others, include "aspect ratio," "vinegar syndrome," and "grain structure." Many of you are to expect notices regarding unauthorized use of these properties.

FWIW, I think Cinderalla is a waitress at a certain diner in Greenwich Village.

I claim total ownership of "the", though, so you all had better tread lightly, as I'm always watching... [IMG]

    This thread is scary.

Do I have the content owners' permission to read the posts made here? Or should I hire a lawyer too?

You know, I was just wondering that. I have the video of Cinderella and it doesn't have the logo (or even the score originally behind it) and the score starts adrubtly because of this.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear the good reactions! [IMG]

The RKO logo...I'll double check. I'm worried that it may not (I don't remember seeing it when I glanced at the disc last night)...

Well, even if it does not have the RKO logo, does it retain the original soundtrack that would have played over the card in any way (like on the Bambi DVD was with the castle over the score instead of the RKO card)?

Yes, I think we all do have such permission. But we may not copy/paste anything herein or they may revoke our keys and render our computers useless.

Well, lawyers dream of money and a dream is a wish your heart makes...Does that mean that lawyers have cash registers where their hearts should be?
