My Blu-Ray is from the USA. VHS, laserdisc, widescreen laserdisc, DVD, Blu-Ray(s), they just keep putting one of my all-time favourite movies out in increasingly better formats and I just keep buying it.
Lol, eeeee, yessss I know what you mean. I mean it doesn't strike me that THE RIGHT STUFF is "STAR WARS CASH COW". Okay so it didn't do will at box off and over years has built up an audience in the home.

I'm tempted to buy the Laserdsc again. I have to look around for the Hi-Fi Stereo VHS I think its in large box with other VHS titles?

I saw it a few times in the theatre when it came out, too. I've never watched "The Right Stuff" without having a great time. Pretty much any excuse is good enough for me!

Lucky you was it showing 35mm or 70mm near you?

I think I have sold the VHS Hi-Fi, must be 15 years ago but I recall the artwork cover like I thought I still had it and I turned out my cupboard looking for it and looked at the other VHS tapes I still have. I'm sweating after all that. I have few bundles of other Warner Bros Paramount, Universal, 20th Fox, and many few others.

Real life home cinema. :P

Seen a VHS rental copy on eBay cheap going. This was the same artwork design I had and stick on 15 BBFC as it didn't have printed on the cover.

Also a France one, I like the artwork.

Laserdisc artwork looks cool. The way the 7 are shown above the atmosphere looking at the future and on the ground one pilot that is singled out due to not gone to collage but truly had The Right Stuff.

Other DVD edition of THE RIGHT STUFF and bluray I have.

Years ago if televised aired it would be a total different to what might be shown today on tv, as often in past you can see reel change over dots every 20 mins or so.

JBL. ? No idea really.

Looks like horn loaded speakers.
That is my guess horn loaded? Wonder what the story is about them being in the film?

The Dolby mix is still one of the loudest and clearest mixes I've listened too.

Not sure about that. They look very much like a PA system used in a club I frequented back then. The EV system had those honeycomb baffles, that's what stood out to me. That system was probably new in the early 70's though.

"You might be right."

I can see those in night club with dry ice and smoke and lights flashing with thumping chest pounding bass.

I purchased The Right Stuff digi-book from Amazon and the BD was the 96K version, so maybe they've filtered out the 48K discs by now. Should now be a safe bet without the return hassles. Sounds fantastic with thundering bass and crystal clear orchestral soundtrack.

I've taken a quick look at this article - enough to see that William Goldman has been excised from their selective history.

This took some searching around to find time start at 2.00 mins.

That theme is heavily derived from Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. It's not exactly the same, but the orchestration and rhythm are identical. A casual listener would think they were the same.Check out this Youtube of the concerto played by Joshua Bell:

Go to the 6:00 minute mark. The orchestra will hit the "Not Quite Right Stuff Theme" at around the 6:19 mark.

Some people actually think they are identical. They are quite (I mean quite) similar, but not identical.
