Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, directed by Andre Ovredal, and with Guillermo del Toro credited partially with producing and writing, is a quality, thoughtful, little horror film, based upon the series of books by Alvin Schwartz.

With a cast of "teens in jeopardy," one might easily equate it in feel to It, or Stranger Things, but it's quite different, as it's more of a haunted house drama.

Apparently uprezzed to 4k for the Lionsgate release, it looks fine, but once again HDR suffers in projection, while it helps the overall image via OLED.

My go-to on this one is the standard issue Blu-ray, which allowed a far better viewing experience than the 4k mit HDR, as my preference is projection over flat panel. That noted, it did look superlative on a Sony OLED, with Dolby Vision properly elevating the image.

A film worthy of your time, and a fun way to spend 108 minutes.

Image – 5 (Dolby Vision / HDR 10)

Audio – 5 - Dolby TrueHD 5.1

Pass / Fail – Pass
