By the way, Oklahoma is playing at local theaters in the near future.

This is true, November 1st. However, unless they are showing 35mm projected prints, it's just not worth the time, money and effort. I've seen those digital streamed films, and they are truly awful looking. Think of a blown up version of VHS quality.

Depends who is distributing. MFL is being sent to theaters in uncompressed 4k.

Oklahoma is playing at my local Cinemark theater on Nov. 22nd. This is the same theater where I had a good experience recently seeing My Fair Lady. Looking forward to it. And for those who haven't yet gotten the blu-ray of Oklahoma, it's currently on sale at amazon for $8.

Wasn't Oklahoma on the same hard drive as MFL and Fantasia? If I find a local showing of it I'll try to see it.

It's playing on the 22nd at the Cinemark where I saw MFL, which looked very good except for the non-masking issue. One showing at 2pm on the 22nd, but 2 showings on the day before Thanksgiving (25th), 2 PM and 7PM.

Saw Oklahoma! today at my local Cinemark theater for the first time ever. Wonderful musical! Great PQ. Rod Steiger is effectively creepy. Terrific songs, of course. Strong performances all around, and wonderful production design. Glad this one has been saved from ruin.

I too saw this today at my local Cinemark, 4K DCP. It's everything that RAH expressed when he saw it at the Grauman's Chinese. The TODD-AO version running at 30fps in restored color gives the image such depth and fidelity; and the sound is amazingly lifelike. Those who can catch it when it replays on Wednesday are urged to make an effort to do so. It is that good!

I saw OKLAHOMA! on November 25th at a Cinemark theater north of Pittsburgh. It looked and sounded great to me, but the projection did not completely fill the height of the available screen. My recollection of the post-intermission buggy scene was that it was taking place at dusk. This is the only Todd-AO version of the film I've ever seen, so I have no other point of comparison.

While looking around eBay for random 35mm stuff, I noticed someone is selling odd reels of Oklahoma! from what seems to be a 1.37:1 print. Did they shoot a third version or is this just a crop from the CinemaScope version?
