Obsession is what one gets, when two superb filmmakers (Brian De Palma & Paul Schrader) have an obsession.

A slightly different take on Hitchcock's Vertigo.

    And a fun ride.

Based upon a new master, provided by Columbia, one should presume going in, that the quality will be superb.

    And it is.

They've done right by Vilmos Zsigmond's soft and etherial cinematography.

Interesting experiencing a different riff by the same composer, on a very similar subject.

Thanks to Scream Factory for adding this to their superb list of releases.

    Very Highly Recommended

Great news! Too bad the original ending is not available as an extra.

I'd be curious how this measures up to the Arrow version. Got a mini-copy of the original script with that.

It seems they used a still from De Palma’s 2012 film Passion in error.

Had to order this, after watching a trio of recent lovely remastered Shout titles: When Harry Met Sally, Get Shorty and The Jerk. The is one De Palma I haven't seen either and he seems to be served quite well on blu ray. There are rumours that Scarface will get a 4K UHD release this year too....

Since the question was asked and not answered - has no one compared this to the UK Blu?

Not that no one has compared the two but not really discussed PQ

RAH stated in the review this was a new master - the Arrow was originally released in 2011 (re-released in 2013)

I guest Eddie Haskell stole the Beav's copy ;) as he only has the Arrow review up

Another review states that this is the same eight year old master used by Arrow:

I "discovered" this film some eight or nine years ago. I was poking around on my then-new Sony Blu-ray player's smart functions and found an app named Crackle. That app is still around today, though I believe it is technologically different than it was back then. I saw the title OBSESSION listed, and as I'd not seen it before, I thought I'd take a look. This would have to be one of my earliest experiences with streaming a movie.

I also own an ancient DVD recorder with a hard drive, and for some reason, this Crackle channel did not have a flag to prevent recording. So, I sent the whole movie to the hard disc and then edited out the commercial breaks. I really loved the movie - I've always loved the De Palma films of that era and wondered how this one escaped me. I searched around for a real DVD or Blu-ray of the title, but only non-region 1 versions seemed to be available.

I've wanted to revisit this movie, but this ancient, pieced-together DVD is not all that inviting to watch, but I recently found this newish Blu-ray for sale and ordered it. Hopefully, it'll be here in the next few days.
