You'll surely take a much improved transfer of Goldeneye if they offer it.
Goldeneye looked fine to me when I watched it a few weeks ago.
The only issues I have with the latest versions are the 5.1 mix on OHMSS which mixes the music and effects differently to the correct mono mix.
The surround mixes are usually the ones I prefer.

The added sounds on the YOLT surround mix really irk me as does the new meow from the cat on DAF.

The messed up colours on the Thunderball UE dvd were grating . Mainly when the thug is thrown into the sharkpool and his blood turns the water a colour that is not red - thankfully corrected for the Blu.

These errors stand out for me. I don't nitpick whether ratios are spot on or for other slight imperfections that might pass me by.
I just watch and listen to the movies .
I'm generally satisfied with the Bond boxset . I doubt any changes to Goldeneye would make me buy it again individually although I expect there may be another excuse to buy the whole set again in the future.

YOLT with the surround track removed of all new effects and OHMSS surround redone would likely be the only 2 I would buy on their own- however , being able to recognise these inaccuracies tells me I've probably watched these films more than enough times already.

To be frank , Goldeneye is the last of the films I would call classic Bond . Everything after that seems to be competing with modern action films.
The Craig movies are entertaining in their own right but as Bond films they are dreadful - QoS was appalling and Skyfall didn't offer anything that 1001 other action movies of the past 15 years hasn't already done .
Bond once lead - now he follows. Even when incorporating elements from other genres there was a time when a Bond movie was a unique film experience .
Goldeneye was the last time I could say that about a 007 movie.

One could say that technology has caught up and now allows 007 scale adventures to be made on budgets that any studio will support but there also seems to be a loss of creativity.
I understand Skyfall is the biggest Bond grosser ever . But I wonder where it will stand in the table of Bond classics in 20 years.

Fair enough.

My issue with Goldeneye is excessive DNR, i would add i think that some films have too much contrast boosting applied, OHMSS, YOLT, some films have edge enhancement, very few of them are done right, i tend to not forgive such issues and it's why i am holding out on buying some of them for better transfers, hopefully this will happen within five years.

I agree with you. For me, it was the most disappointing of the Bond Blu-rays in that 50th Anniversary collection. Perhaps it's because it was my favorite Bond since The Spy Who Loved Me, but this one really needs a complete do over.

The Spy Who Loves me is a revelation, after years of awful dvd releases, finally a decent release, i'm happy to own that one.

I'm probably too easy to please . After years of watching VHS quality pan and scan , then paying exorbitant prices for Laserdiscs and even the early dvd's were pretty poor I'm enjoying the fact that I can get Bluray quality movies at rather silly low prices .
There may be some imperfections here and there but worrying about defects spoils the experience so I try not to let it bother me too much .

Spartacus is the only Bluray that I actually cannot watch . Some others were disappointing , Marnie for instance but the majority of the hundreds of Blurays I have are a definite improvement over the dvd which is the main issue for me.

It would be great to get a remaster for this. I broke down and bought the BD for $5 a while back, but man is it hard on the eyes. The master is ancient, and filtered within a centimeter of its life. I'd be glad to buy this over again...even import it, if need be (as I did for the uncut version of Casino Royale). It's the only Brosnan 007 film that I actually like.

I hope MGM celebrate this Anniversary with a remastered Blu-ray Special Edition.
A new 4K transfer exist:

I agree with you I would love to buy the bond films on blu ray with new masters however....
Based on what I have read and where things are at with MGM I think the 4K transfers will be saved for when Bond 25 hits theaters.

Consider the following:
There is no ETA for an UHD blu ray player this year.
The Sony agreement with Bond ends with Spectre
The Fox Home Video agreement ends in 2016.

This article also mentions an association with Warner Bros may be possible?
https://www.mi6-hq.com/sections/articles/movies_sony_deal_expires_2015?t=&s=main&id=03911

Speculation is mounting that the tight relationship between MGM chief Gary Barber and Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara could see the lion favouring a deal with a new partner. MGM and Warner Bros have already teamed up on the 'Hobbit' trilogy and the upcoming Rocky spin-off 'Creed.'

Again just speculation, but sadly I don't think we will see any 4K Bond transfers until Bond 25.

I am thankful that I have time to budget and save for an UHD TV (plus time for prices to come down) and a UHD blu ray player with the UHD Bond blu rays of course...

I dont mean a UHD release, I mean a 4K remastered Full HD Release like MGM did with Robocop, Fargo an Rain Man ;-)

I hope MGM continuie the Home Video agreement with Fox, I dont want so see a Terminator release from Warner or any James Bond release from Warner,

Personally I would love to see this one get a 4k Remaster as well or at the very least a release with the grain intact. Outside of that I was still somewhat pleased with the Blu-ray of GoldenEye as I found the Ultimate Edition DVD kind of underwhelming visually especially due to the zooming in.

Its not oly the grain problem, colors, contrast, sharpness, clarity, fine details could profit siginificantly from such a remastered Blu-ray.

Most definitely. MGM has come through with 4K remasters for a few films I was hoping for...but I'd still like to see one for GoldenEye.

And The Usual Suspects.

And The Silence of the Lambs.

I agree with you I would love to buy new masters of all of the film on blu ray but, makes sense that the 4k transfers for standard blu ray and uhd blu ray will happen with bond 25. MGM usually does new bond releases timed with the new film.

Dr no - live and let die were sourced from 4k scans by Lowry as was moonraker. The others are 2k scans. However goldeneye and the spy who loved me had new masters for blu ray.

I hope I'm wrong but from the DVD and now blu ray track record I don't think we will see new masters this time. Bond 25 seems to make the most sense. Uhd bd should be going then as well. Or perhaps it will be all digital releases by the . I hope not.

As a bond fan its a bummer and a relief not to have to buy this time?

GoldenEye certainly didn't have a new master. haha More apt to say that they plunked down an ancient master for GoldenEye.

Goldeneye become for the blu-ray not the cropped Ultimate Edition DVD transfer, it becomes are more aged DVD transfer.

Maybe a petition for a remastered blu-ray could help. Its not a big thing for MGM, just a new encode, the new transfer exist.

I read somewhere that Goldeneye did have a new master but due to the technician's goof, it ended up being severey cropped so they decided to use an old master for the DVD instead.

I read, that the DVD Ultimate Edition was an old scan that was precessed by Lowry Digital. They cropped this.

MGM decide to use for the Blu-ray a different transfer, sadly it was an old DVD transfer, not a new 4K transfer like on The Spy who loved me.
