Have Casino only on dvd and was planning to buy the Blu-ray but reading the reviews of the 4K disc including Robert's and currently at a good price I will buy it.

I was holding off after seeing how the price on another Universal title Field of Dreams dropped fairly quickly. Just a week after release Best Buy already has the Casino steelbook on sale for $17.99, 2 bucks cheaper than the regular edition. I pick my copy up tomorrow.

Make sure you buy the steelbook in a BB store as the front can be pretty banged up. I went through all eight in the store to find one that wasn't damaged in some way.

I'm not surprised that the UHD looks the biz, I viewed the Blu-ray a few weeks ago (it's been a few years since I last saw it), & I thought it looked brilliant. One fix, which they wouldn't do (& quite right too) is DeNiro in the car at the start, & as it blows up (& they obviously replace DeNiro with a mannequin), the mannequin replacement is just a bit more forward than DeNiro was, & so it jumps on the cut.

Cannot believe that Mr. De Niro refused to do the stunt.

As for myself, I'm not bothered by the mannequin at all.
I liken this stylish opening as an homage to Saul Bass and "Vertigo"

The title sequence was designed by Saul Bass.

That's hilarious. His very work is so darned indelible that the opening images detoured mine eyes from ever taking in the fact that his own name was there upon the credits; or was it some sort of subliminal thing, all along?
Either way, Mr. Bass and his collective works are that of cinematic genius.:thumbs-up-smiley:

The version on iTunes that I picked up for $5 awhile ago has been upgraded to 4K/HDR10. I watched it last night, and it looked wonderful.

I've watched the UHD BD twice. It's a huge improvement over the original BD in every way.

Michael, it’s literally in the opening credits at the very beginning of the film.

Colors are much better on the UHD. From the neon lights on the strip to Ace's suits.

Hopefully, you already know how King of Kings turns out.;)

Meanwhile, on other topics, I would say that the works of DP Robert Richardson are leading the pack when it comes to physical media content available on 4K/UHD; such as A Few Good Men, The Doors and, now, Casino. Hope to see more.:thumbs-up-smiley:

For whatever reasons, this UHD release sneaked in under my radar. Even after noticing, I wasn't supercharged, despite being a huge fan of the film. Perhaps I had associations, right or wrong, from a few less than stellar reviews of the 'Goodfellas' UHD (which I still don't own, and haven't watched). But at the price offered by Amazon for 'Casino', and a couple of stellar reviews later, I pulled the trigger. Let me tell you: this is one stunning 4K disc. One of the best catalogue examples I've seen so far. Couldn't be happier.
