John Boulting was half of a British production team (along with brother Roy, responsible for a number of quality films produced between 1939 and 1974.
Their act was neatly copied by the Coens, who have used it to some moderate success.
Brighton Rock is a wonderful character study of one "Pinky" Brown, as played by Richard Attenborough, a small-time hood in Brighton in 1935, for whom things get a bit out of control. Based upon the novel by Graham Greene.
A quality film, with lovely imagery on the new Kino Blu-ray courtesy of Canal. For those who may be hard of herring, the release may be a problem, as audio is rather muddy throughout.
Definitely worth a look.
Re-made in 2010.
