Hello - I have really been enjoying seeing A&E release The Saint on DVD. I have purchased all the color season sets thus far.
I am hoping the black and white Roger Moore episodes will be released soon.
Does anyone know anything about the status of these episodes coming to DVD?

I had heard rumors A&E isn't sure about putting them out yet. Is this because they are black and white episodes and people may be put off by buying them?
I honestly don't understand why they are delaying unless there is a fear they won't sell for some reason.
Perhaps A&E's black and white episodes of The Avengers have not sold as well as the color episodes?

If you know anything about the status of The Saint, please post. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi Tim,

I asked A&E's press guy about this awhile ago and he said that as far as he knew, A&E was done with "The Saint" releases.

A&E is still deciding on whether to release the rest of the series on DVD. That is where you come in, no matter who / where you are. I would like to give some A&E contact information to you for the US release of the rest of the series.
Please copy and paste this message and subject line then send it to their email address. PLEASE feel free to tell A&E how much you enjoy their products and that you wish to continue purchasing them:

[email protected]

Subject line: The Saint 1962-1966

Please release the 1962-1966 Saint episodes on DVD.

Feel free to send this message on to other Saint fans and encourage them also to write A&E on this.

Nice email sent. Hope it does some good. Do you happen to know Mr. Kelly's title? Wondering where he is on the food chain and how much say he has in whether or not A&E finishes releasing The Saint.

Thank you for posting! It seems there are very few Saint fans who visit this forum. Hopefully some fans of the series and the great sets A&E has done will email him or contact them about releasing the rest of them. I've become a big fan thanks to the DVD's.

His title is "Merchandising Specialist, E Commerce"

Update***
I have heard that the rest of the series is coming to Australlia later this year. Hopefully the US will be very soon as well.

From a great Saint fan site (link listed after text):

He was also kind enought to tell me that the black and white episodes on dvd are going to be released in Australia with the first set of 24 episodes being released November 2003 and the next set of 24 episodes being released in the spring,so no doubt the final set will be released in the summer of next year.He also informs me that there may even be some commentaries to go with them from the crew and cast who worked on the episodes,he said he would keep me informed about the series and any news he relays to me will be posted in the coming updates,so thats something to look forward to in the coming months.

It seems that Best Buy Stores offer a bonus disc for the Complete Set of The Saint.

Can anybody confirm this and tell me what the bonus disc contains ?

Thanks

How so? The original releases ran to 14 discs (7 two-disc sets) and the graphic you included says it's on 14 discs.

I agree, the earlier shows are far better than the ones from the color era.

Hopefully these will be released by someone eventually.

I enjoyed both eras of The Saint equally, although the later seasons were better written and certainly featured classier theme music -- including an improved version of the original theme heard during the 1966-67 season and a new theme for the final year (1967-68).

The black & white years were 1962 to 1965, the first 3 seasons. As with The Avengers, there was also a 1 year break in production for The Saint.

During the 1965-1966 season, former Maverick co-star Roger Moore returned to the USA and did guest appearances, including an episode of Peter Falk's first TV series The Trials of O'Brien.

I enjoy both eras of The Saint as well. I hope I am able to see the rest of the Black and White era. I have the first 2 sets from A&E.

I was always curious about why the theme music was changed.

There is a Vendetta For The Saint dvd avaiable.

It includes a really cool audio commentary with Roger Moore. I believe the sets in regions outside the US also had commentaries on some of the episodes. Along with some brief extras.
Not a great episode, but it's still cool I think. I'm glad it was released in the film format that it was later released in.
Seems like this was a common occurance in the 1970's with releasing tv shows as movies.
It was done several times for The Saint? Also for the Roger Moore / Tony Curtis The Persuaders series?

Thanks for posting!
