I was thinking of using my rear surround speakers as b front speakers when listening to music but of course I want to keep them as rear surround for movies. Shouldn't there be a setting that does this or do I need to get a speaker switch? Any opinion on using the rears as B fronts for music?

Most recent receivers have a feature along these lines already. You shouldn't need to do anything (unless your receiver does not have this function). It is called "6ch stereo" on my receiver, which sends the same front information to the rears and I suppose it blends the center(s) in.
