Is this the best combo deal for < $2,100 or are there others to look at. If so where?

I have done some research but for the price it doesn't seem like there is much else out there for the combo and the price.
    Any thoughts.

Acurus act-3 550 or so. upgraded by mondial to "stageone" status 950.00 that puts you at 1500 plus two parasound 855 amps for 10 channels of amplification 375.00 each, for a total of 2250.00...You can be creative and come up with LOTS of options if you want, if you are willing to buy used equipment..

    H/K AVR8000 1200.00 and nice two channel amp 400.00, total of 1600.00..

Lexicon dc-2 1350.00 and 7 channels of amplification of your choice 750.00 total of 2100.00

The key right now is a 5 channel amp probably at least 150 * 5.

Chad, besides the SVS, I also own an Outlaw 950. It is a great value. As far as amps are concerned, the 755 is a very good amp and a great value. I wonder, however, why you feel a need to have at least 150 X 5 power. do you still have the AR's?

If you do, they are pretty efficient speakers. You can buy the power, but I am not sure you need it.The difference between 75 watts and 150 watts is only 3db, which isn't very much. If you were driving speakers with, say, an 87db efficiency, I could see where 150-200 watts would be needed. You could get by just fine with 100 X 5, or even a little less.

I have a Parasound HCA-855a that I bought for under $500 brand new with a 10 yr warranty in Stevens Point (from a dealer). I believe Hi-Fi Heaven is a Parasound dealer also. It puts out an honest 85 X 5 (ALL channels driven) and has much more power than most receivers, which are usually rated with 1, 2, or 3 channels driven. Your powered sub will take a lot of strain out of the amp also. With the 950's ability to cross over at different frequencies, you can run your AR 11's from 40Hz up, cross over your 4C at 80Hz, and cross the 17's over at 60Hz. This will give you great imaging while taking the strain off the amp and allowing the SVS to effortlessly produce the deep stuff. (you did buy an SVS?)

No I did not buy an svs yet. I am waiting....between the 25-31pci and the new box style.
I asked the lady the other night wich one she thought looked better and her vote was for the box. The odd thing was last night at dinner she said so which one are you going to buy?
I would still like to hear one.
