I have a receiver that supports both 4ohms and 8ohms speakers. My 5.0 speakers are 8ohms now. Is it possible to rewire them all into 4ohms? If so, what are the advantages/disadvantages? Thanks...

Nope, no way to change the impedance of the speakers without basically making new ones (new drivers and crossover). The advantage of having 8 ohm speakers is that the amp will produce less distortion, disadvantage is less power.

Actually, there is a way to do this. Obtain a duplicate set of 5 speakers and place each one next to its mate, then wire them in parallel. But its a bad idea.
