Red Dragon is due on 4/1 (no date on 8 Mile yet):
Thanks for the covers but I sort of figured that at least 8 Mile would be a Collector's Edition selection. Of course that could change I'm sure. Again thanks.
Anyone word yet on if it will be a 2-Disc set ala Hannibal with DTS and all?
I really wish they'd stop putting quotes on the covers. These are movies, not paperback books.
Hopefully Red Dragon will have an isolated score.
I agree Richard. Red Dragon should have used the poster art that had the back of Dolarhyde with the Red Dragon tattoo.
I hope they are both Collector's Edition, full of extras!
They'll probably be slapping the collector's edition tags on them on release, like the Scorpion King.
Yeah, but a pic of Hannibal/Anthony Hopkins is instantly recognizable by the average Joe and will help sell copies like mad.
But I also agree that the one-sheet art was 100x better.
How come Anthony Hopkins face will sell more DVD copies but not more movie tickets in case of one sheet art posters?
Hypothethical question, but I find that kind of strange...
And the argument I am making is that if it works on one sheet art posters it should work on DVD covers as well, and not vice versa
They really botched up the Red Dragon artwork. The original was fantastic. This looks like a horrible Photshop job. Almost as bad as The Patriot.
This link is the film's teaser image. Note the lack of complete credits and a rating.
This link is the final release poster. As you can clearly see, the DVD does use the theatrical release poster, making most of the comments in this thread inaccurate.
Neil - setting history straight
I don't mind the Red Dragon art, but I think it would have been better if they included the taglines.
Press quotes really bother me on DVD covers, as if some mindless quote is going to make me want to buy it more.
Get rid of the quotes and keep the original taglines!
8 Mile is due on March 18th. No specs yet.
According to IGN, there will be a 2-disc Red Dragon with different cover art. Perhaps it will have the teaser poster artwork on it.
Dan, can you post a link to that article? If so, this is good news and I can hold off buying the first release.
