Nice. I've been waiting for A Dirty Shame to get a release date.
I'll skip the boxset since I've got all the rest of them
I might pick up "a dirty shame" since it was shot right by where i go to school on harford road.
Looks good, just curious but Waters only has like 10 feature releases, why didn't they just add the others? Seems like Cecil B Demented, Serial Mom, and Cry Baby were the 3 left out.
They're owned by studios other than New Line. Although HBO does own Serial Mom which does make its exclusion kinda odd.
Cecil B. Demented is Artisan and Cry Baby is through Universal. Maybe we'll see that Cry Baby disc in June too
Hopefully the John Waters DVD Scrapbook and A Dirty Shame will be available separately as I already own the other discs.
All I want is widescreen Serial Mom!!!
Same here. I was actually hoping the scrapbook disc would be included with A Dirty Shame to help boost sales since it didn't do too well theatrically.
A few more were left out. His earlier ones.
MULTIPLE MANIACS (Probably his best, even Waters has said such) and MONDO TRASHO.
Both I believe were once released theatrically by New Line, at least in the 70's. Neither ever made it to DVD.
MULTIPLE was issued on VHS in the 90's, by some no name video company, possibly a bootleg. I saw it in a Media Play so it was on some store shelves.
MONDO has never really been issued on video(although bootlegs are out there), probably due to music rights.
Incorrect, MULTIPLE MANIACS and MONDO TRASHO were both legitimately issued on VHS back in the 80's via Cinema Group Home Video. Both of those tapes were officially licensed versions and are obviously somewhat difficult to find today.
There was a somewhat questionable release of MULTIPLE MANIACS later on via a smaller video company (can't think of the label at the moment) which may be the 'bootleg' version you are referring to. But the Cinema Group tapes were definitely official releaes.
"Cry Baby" in June.
I sure hope so.
Ok, those were the ones I was wondering about as it wasn't a major label. I've never seen MONDO, VERY hard to find today.
The MULTIPLE MANIACS 90's release was by a company called Raven or something like that.
The current DVD release IS widescreen. It also has a fantabulous commentary from Waters.
I too hope that th Scrapbook is available seperately. I couldn't get it at the time of the original promotion, as it wasn't offered in Canada
