8-10 feet away from set. Is 32 inch to big at this distance? Should I do 27?

????? I dont want my eyes to be strained or anything. Obviously I would love a 32 but only if it will not be a strain. Would it be better to go with 27 inch at the 8-10 foot distance. I am sure this would be just fine, but what do you all think?

Todd, at 10 feet many people go with a 57" RPTV.

I noticed your other post. What is your price range?

    Regards

I've been sitting 9 feet from a 32inch for the last few years. I've had no problem with eyestrain or anything else. In fact, I'm planning an upgrade to a 61inch set...

I would like to keep the budget at around 6-700.00. Dont mind stretching a little if it would be a huge difference, but I need to keep it around here. I guess I would like a 32 inch if a good one can be had in this price range. Like I said in other post I just need a good picture and component video for xbox. But I am open to suggestions. Thanks for the replys.

Todd, I've had my 32 inch JVC 32D302 for about a month now and my seating area is only about 8 or 9 feet from the screen. We haven't experienced any problems with eye strain or distortion of the picture, ie the picture is always clear - especially with anamorphic DVD sources.

For about $600, I would highly recommend this set! I did a LOT of research and the JVC produces a really nice picture.

Oh, and it includes component inputs!

Definitely go with the 32" set. And I second the JVC recommendation. I had one for 15 months without a hitch. And I was sitting 8 ft. or closer.

This kinda fits with this topic. If for about the same price you could get a 27" flat screen or 32" regular screen what would you get. I currently have a 27" and 32" flat screens won't fit in my entertainment center.

    Greetings

Just be aware that the convergence and geometry of the flat screens are notorious for being rather crappy. As in most cases, these are issues that simply cannot be fixed on the set.

I'd consider a 32 inch near flat design ... especially since we wouldn't notice anything when the lights came down for serious viewing.

    Regards

I'm about 14 feet from a 100", so 8-10 feet from a 32" would seem like no big deal. [IMG]

Todd, I don't think you can ever get a screen too big for your room. I'm only about 11 feet away from my 60" Mits. Bob

I tried looking for that link to the THX standard viewing angle site but couldn't find it. I think you need like a viewing angle of 30 degrees from left to right to meet THX standards. Anyone have that link handy?

To achieve that viewing angle at 10 ft away you'll need a pretty big tv.

I sit 4 feet from my 27" though when I had the 32" I did feel a bit dizzy, my 27" right now feels small so I am getting a projector/rear proj HDTV or 36" HDTV set.

The jvc does not have the 16/9. Is this a big deal? Please tell me why this is good to have.
