The new xxHDX82 Toshiba line (e.g. 65HDX82) touts the capability to support 720p. I am curious to know whether this means that they natively display 720p, or convert it to 1080i. Does anybody have any relavant experience with these sets to confirm one way or the other? I called the Toshiba sales line, and they indicated that it would display a 720p signal without conversion, but I'm still a little skeptical.

    Thanks Mark,
BTW, I did find clear evidence that the Toshiba xxHDX82 series does not natively display 720p, but merely converts it to 1080i. See http://www.toshiba.com/tacp/news/may_23_02_tv_over.html
Its disappointing to me that (a) their vague marketing copy is touting this as some kind of major breakthrough (doesn't every STB on the planet do this for you anyway?); and (b) their toll free sales support line reinforced this by insisting that it does in fact display at 720p. I don't think the rep was being dishonest, just clueless, which is still no excuse.
    Cheers,
    Mike
