7.1 surround speaker set up (1 Viewer)

i need some advice on what type of surround speakers to use with a 7.1 set up? im not looking for brands, but rather if they should be dipole, bipole or monopole and whether they would be for the rear center or side rears? thanks

oh yea, i dont know if it makes a difference, but this setup is mostly for movies with the addition of video games and hd channels.

Well, I believe dolby reccomends monopoles for everthing except the sides (sides being the 4 & 5 not the 6 & 7 of the 7.1) and the backs should be monopoles. I would have to agree with this (I know this is a touchy topic). I don't have dipoles but I find that if I simply aim my side speakers up as opposed to at me The sound comes more from the left and right walls than the speakers themselves. Just my opinion.
