I don't recall too many Diva users with an all 2.1 set-up but you may want to head over to AVSForum which has most Diva info and post the same question. I recall one guy replacing his M&K's with 5 Diva M1's (the one with the ribbon tweeter).

    Hi Gene,

I don't think that the 2.1 setup all the way around is a stupid idea at all. I think they should be fine when used together with a decent sub. I have no experience with your old speakers so I can't say anything about them. The Divas sure are nice looking speakers and from everything I've read about them I'm sure you will be happy with the sound. I have a Diva setup coming this week and I can't wait.

    Best of luck,

    Sean

What is your budget for 5 (or 6) speakers? What is your associated equipment? Any major placement restrictions?

gene, I think identical bookshelf speakers all around would give you a fantastic setup. As for what manufacturer to choose, that is a tough call. At www.cheaphometheater.com they did a shootout between Diva 2.1, nOrh 4.0, and a couple others. Good luck!

Gene, do I understand correctly that you don't have room on the side walls? If I'm mistaken then you should consider something like the Diva R3s as part of the mix. My personal recommendation would be a pair of 4.1s and a C3 up front, a couple of R3s on the sides (if you have room) and a pair of 2.1s directly behind. If you don't have room on the sides then just skip the R3s.
Oh and if you go the Diva route, make sure you talk to one of the guys at AV123.com about a package deal. They'll take care of you.

I'm also curious as to how six 2.1s would work. I was leaning towards the nOrh 4.0s all around, but the Divas have been very well received. I'm still leaning nOrh's way, but the Divas are better looking, IMO. I still like the nOrh's appearance (especially all black ceramic), but the Diva's grabbed my attention asthetically. Seems they are similar in performance, but the Divas are a bit more cash.

The question I have concerns the Diva center. $500?! Ouch, babe. It also has the MTM design that some people so vehemently say to avoid. That's why I was thinking a 2.1 as a center (not mentioning saving the cash) might be a better idea. So why is it that I don't hear much criticism of this particular MTM center? Shoot, the Cheaphometheater shootout had 2.1s as mains, the center, and the R3 rears. That means the mains were the cheapest of all the speakers. Seems a bit odd to me. If you can find any of my questions in this post, feel free to give an opinion. Otherwise, sorry about the length.

Steve, the C3 center sure sounds good to my ears compared to the Cerwin Vega center I had before [IMG]
If you're interested in the C3, you should call AV123.com to see what sort of package pricing you can get. It won't cost you $500 when purchased as part of a package. In fact, if purchased with a pair each of the 4.1s and 2.1s, the C3 is free. (see web site for details yadda yadda)
