I have a "stupid" question regarding amp output on a receiver and was hoping someone would be able to answer it. I am buying a receiver today and speakers for my h/t setup and have a limited budget. I was going to purchase the l/c/r and sub today but not the surrounds and was wondering if this was going to hurt or affect the receiver by not running all the channels. It will probable be a couple of months before I get the surrounds and I don't want to do any damage to the amp section of the receiver. Thanks for you help in advance. I have a neighbor that is selling his Outlaw 1050 and I was going to purchase it from him today before he put it on eBay and a new set of Polk RT70's with a matching center and a sub.

It will be fine.. You tell the AVR what you have and it uses it.
