I have been trying to replace the gray bars in the picture in picture mode with black ones and have yet to do so. I know I was told that this is an option the TV can perform but I have yet to figure it out. Then manual has no such option. Can this be done? If so, how? Thanks

Michael, I think this may be possible in the SERVICE menu (USE CAUTION). Unfortunately I can't help you there but someone should be able to. If you don't get an answer here try over at the Spot

I don't think it can be done on this year's or even last year's models.
You had to access either designer or ADDR menu (I can't remember which) and it's unknown how to get into this menu on the newer sets. It's possible, but supposedly kept quiet because it's alot easier to ruin your set with these menus.

If Toshiba haven't blocked it on the new models you can use a special remote to gain access to the ADDR menu. Then in theory you could experiment to see what control the grey bar settings.
A bit risky though unless you know exactly what and where to change.

Do you realize that doing this (if you could) will speed up the phosphor burn-in problem?
