    I'm interested in either 51"16:9 or 53"4:3.
My primary purpose is for DVD and sports (Soccer)
Which would you go with and why?
Sony 51"Wide or 53" Big screen
    Thanks,
    Tony

Personally? I'd pick 16:9 hands down.

    Phil,
Thanks for that CGI bases 4:3 vs. 16:9 aspect ratio calculation
    tool!
    On a 61 inch 4:3 TV
    16:9 (1.78:1) letterbox mode
    Your viewing area is 48.8 in(w) x 27.4 in(h)
The diagonal size is 56.0 in
Total viewing area is 1337.12 sq in.
This is the equivalent of a 56.0 inch 16:9 TV
Your viewing area is decreased by 25.1% from 4:3 mode
    Way cool! [IMG]
If DVD's are a primary source and you are an avid OAR'r
(Original Aspect Ratio) then I would say get the BIGGEST
16:9 you can afford. If your going to be primarily watching
Over The Air Broadcasting which is 99.9% presented in a 4:3
Format then get the BIGGEST 4:3 you can afford.. Either way
you should get the biggest that you can afford and fit into
    your surroundings [IMG]
