50" Tv - Help Decide (1 Viewer)

Hello Gurus,

I am looking to buy a new 50" tv, preferably an LCD, as a treat to myself for Christmas . I am looking at the following models:

Samsung HL-P5085W
Toshiba 52HM84
Sony KDF-50WE655

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Well, if you're looking for LCDs, the Samsung and Toshiba are DLPs. The Sony is a RP-LCD. Panasonic, LG, Zenith, Hitachi all also make RP-LCDs. Have you looked at any of those?

I purhcased a Hitachi 50V500A back in July and I love it. It is still available as well as the new model for 2005 (the 810 series). When I was researching these, I found the Hitachi and the Sony to have the best picture. I got the Hitachi because I liked the vast array of adjustments that are possible without having to go into the sevice menu.
I will admit though, the picture from the factory was way off. But, after some tweaking it looks fabulous.
