Can someone recommend a 5.1 speaker package (can be separated by satelittes and sub if need be) that can be had for $300 or less? The front and surround channels need to be compact in size to be discretely mounted in the ceiling corners of the room. Also, the 5 speakers must either be white in color (preference) or silver (second preference). The sub can be black if need be. Thanks!

    One possibility:

Not the greatest but with your limitations, especially colors, I don't know of many great options.

Is this to meet a wife's restrtictions? If so have you presented her with the idea of a good-looking woodgrain? That would open up your options considerably.

You can try to find the JBL NSP1II speaker package (usually sells for around $200 or so... speakers are black, but have silver highlights when the grills are off). For the sub you can go with the 10" Dayton 100 watt powered subwoofer from Parts Express (http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...=300-632&DID=7)

If you dont have the receiver yet, you could get one
of the Onkyo HTIB in silver for right at $300-350.00
    including the sub.......

Just a thought, & work better than you think
if you are on that kind of budget.....[IMG]

    John,
I'll second the reccomendation for the Polk6005 system with the sub woofer. It's tough to beat for $ 300.00.
Also, if it were me, I would concentrate on getting the best sounding set up for my $ 300.00, and not get hung up on the color.
Find what sounds the best, even if it's black, pink, or plaid. A can of silver (or white) spray paint, and some elbow grease is all you need.

    Good Luck, Al. Wise

Buy.com has the JBL N24II speaker pairs for $79 shipped. Pick up 3 pairs for 240. Each pair includes mounting brackets. Pick up a dayton sub at parts express or get a cheap sony sub or a yamaha sub.
