I have a 2 channel 1300 watt amp pushing 2 D9 vegas for the front I have an additional amp pushing back speakers. What do I use as a pre amp to achieve at least 5.1 surround
Just about any receiver with Pre outs will work, or something like this http://shop.emotiva.com/collections/processors/products/umc200 Marantz and Onkyo also make processors, as do many higher end companies

Have fun searching.
Thank you very much for all the help but in the end i didnt really need a pre amp, i needed more of a source of power for another amp i had. I used an old power source from a desktop computer lol.
If you can stretch the budget a bit, you might be able to find an authorized factory refurb at accessories4less.com that is a more modern piece. I just sold a really nice Marantz SR7300 OSE (Original Special Edition - it $1.3k retail when it was new) that would have made a great preamp for $200 (and threw in a Blu-Ray player and other stuff to a friend as I'll be moving in about a year anyway and it really saved me time for the little bit of extra money knowing it's not something I need to get rid of). I have an old Sony 444ES too which is on a secondary computer. Not in a desparate rush to sell it but something like that might suit your needs better at the price point you want.
