Just about any receiver with Pre outs will work, or something like this http://shop.emotiva.com/collections/processors/products/umc200 Marantz and Onkyo also make processors, as do many higher end companies

It would have helped to know that from the outset. 6channel(what it has been called since before DD)output is a high end option. It doesn't exist "cheap". Now what features do you need? HDMI(how many???)? toslink? digital coax? Component video? Here is the "cheapest" I can think of... Here is a pre-HDMI AVR with pre-outs... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Integra-DTR-5-6-7-1-Channel-90-Watt-Receiver-/271137499386?pt=Receivers_Tuners&hash=item3f210de8fa This is cheap because it is missing the remote. It isn't "useless" without it...but have fun with its set-up menu... http://www.ebay.com/itm/INTEGRA-DTR-7-8-THX-HDMI-THEATER-RECEIVER-/140906318723?pt=Receivers_Tuners&hash=item20ceabcb83

Here's an ancient DPL Carver... http://www.ebay.com/itm/CARVER-MODEL-DPL-33-SURROUND-SOUND-PROCESSOR-WITH-SUBWOOFER-OUTPUT-/121051805403?pt=US_Home_Audio_Amplifiers_Preamps&hash=item1c2f3ff6db This doesn't even have component... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-TA-E2000ESD-5-Channel-Amplifier-/150977281057?pt=US_Home_Audio_Amplifiers_Preamps&hash=item2326f27c21 Already over your price range...and it is "barely" modern... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rotel-RSP-1066-Surround-Processor-in-Excellent-Condition-Make-an-Offer-/321054500948?pt=US_Home_Audio_Amplifiers_Preamps&hash=item4ac056e854 $200? Thank you very much for all the help but in the end i didnt really need a pre amp, i needed more of a source of power for another amp i had. I used an old power source from a desktop computer lol.

If you can stretch the budget a bit, you might be able to find an authorized factory refurb at accessories4less.com that is a more modern piece. I just sold a really nice Marantz SR7300 OSE (Original Special Edition - it $1.3k retail when it was new) that would have made a great preamp for $200 (and threw in a Blu-Ray player and other stuff to a friend as I'll be moving in about a year anyway and it really saved me time for the little bit of extra money knowing it's not something I need to get rid of). I have an old Sony 444ES too which is on a secondary computer. Not in a desparate rush to sell it but something like that might suit your needs better at the price point you want.
