hi, ive just bought a 5.1/dts setup, reciever, speakers, sub etc. but my dvd player (mico celo 80) has a built in 5.1 decoder, will this affect the quality of the sound? can i make sure the reciever decodes, or it doesnt make a difference? sorry guys

Just connect the DVD player to the receiver using a digital cable, not the 6 analog ones, and your receiver will do the decoding for DD, DTS, & PCM(CD).

I'm not familiar with that DVD player, but in general, receivers offer better bass management and time alignment. The exception is for decoding DVD-A & SACD. They, with a few exceptions, are decoded by the players.
