I like: True Lies, Saving Private Ryan and my favorite (as far as sound is concerned;)) Black Hawk Down.

I like...
Terminator 2
Independence Day (I hope you have a good sub)

How about any of the Jurassic Parks? I haven't seen any of them yet.

I would never demo new gear with a movie, ALWAYS use music first, as music is far more revealing and subtle.

Diana Krall: Live in Paris (DTS) is an excellent demo disc. (I'm surprised Phil didn't mention that one).
Eagles: Hell Freezes Over (DTS).

What does Superbit have to do with anything? For sound, they are simply DTS tracks.

Movies:

Blade II (DTS-ES)
Titan AE (DTS)
The Haunting (DTS-ES, but the Dolby version is also very good)
From Hell (DTS)

LOTR is DD-EX.

Dolby tracks:
Fight Club
Heat
Superspeedway
Abyss: SE
Ghost in the Shell

Opps!!! :b Well, John, … I was in the Blockbuster DD-5.1 movie mode! :D
"Diana Krall - Live in Paris" (DTS) is extremely revealing in exposing the proper balance between your HT speakers vs. powered sub! (… think REF Calibration vs. room integration) I’ve heard and played jazz music (good ole’ days) with an upright bass player in my small group and I’m happy to say that the SVS 25-31PCi is up to reproducing all the subtle resolution and impact realistically!
Another recommendation is "Kylie Minogue - Live in Sydney!" (DTS) - pop / dance music with excellent instrument definition (especially the bass player, drummer & percussionist) & vocals throughout this highly energy charged show.

Monsters, Inc is one of the best discs to use for a demo. Watch the LFE level though :)
