HI, I'm new to this forum. My question is this: I have an Anthem Statement D2 receiver paired with Paradigm speakers - approx. 18 years old - a fantastic audio set-up. I recently bought a 75" Samsung 4K (at 120hz) TV (model QN85D 4K UHD Neo QLED LCD). The Anthem does not have the new eARC socket. I would like to still use my Anthem/Paradigm set-up - but not the optical audio link but rather continue to use the current analog - RCA audio set-up. I recently purchased an eARC/ARC audio converter - however that didn't do the trick - and I think the reason is that the Samsung TV only offers TV sound or optical sound. Other than going to the optical connection is there any other solution? Do any 4K (120hz) TVs out there have an analog option in their menus?

You only need this connection when the tv itself is the source.

Having said that, the optical output is by FAR your best option. Why don’t you want to use it?

I was originally thinking that the optical output wasn't as good as the analog. However, it appears this is the way (optical) I will be going. Thank you for your reply.

Since your Anthem D2 doesn't support eARC and the converter didn’t work, your best option is to use an HDMI audio extractor that splits the HDMI signal from your TV to RCA analog. This will allow you to bypass the TV’s limitations with optical audio. Unfortunately, most modern 4K TVs do not offer analog audio output in their menus.

That suggestion simply makes no sense. First, it would require the TV to have an hdmi OUTPUT, and no TV I’ve ever heard of has an hdmi output. Also, menus have nothing to do with what physical connectivity a component has. The TV either has an analog audio output, or it doesn’t. Finally, with an older receiver that doesn’t have any form of ARC, the best option remaining is the optical audio output. It’s just reality.
