4K Blu Ray player and current set up (1 Viewer)

One of the main reasons I haven't gotten a 4k blu ray player, other than the fact that Blu Ray was suppose to be it, and now another format comes up etc, is I have a Sony Blu Ray Home Theater System, the blu ray player and speakers all in one, and I don't want to buy a new 5.1 surround system.

My question, can I hook a 4k Blu Ray player up to the Sony Blu Ray Home Theater system, since the player acts as a receiver since the speaker plug into it, via a Coaxial or Digital out cable so I can use that system for 5.1. i hope this makes sense.

I don't know what system you have but most 4K Blu-ray players have dual HDMI. So you should be able to run the video strait to the TV and the sound to your Blu-ray sound system as long as it has an HDMI input.

The Sony X800 also has digi coax, so if the HT system has a coax input you could get sound, granted it wont be advanced sound.
