480p vs. 480i (1 Viewer)

I have tried a few progressive scan players and 480i always looks sharper than 480p on my toshiba 50h72. Is this because its a 4:3 tv? By the way current player is panny rp82 with monster component cable.

The issue of 4:3 vs 16:9 should be of no consequence in this problem.

I'm wondering if maybe your definition of "sharp" might be the issue. I've noticed that some guests find interlaced resolutions to seem "sharper" since they can see the scan lines- creating a similar illusion to how they simulate image enhancement in movies. I've always seen the progressive image as less "sharp" per se- and more smooth.
