480p TV under 1500$ CDN(let's say 1k US$) (1 Viewer)

A friend of mine is looking for a a new TV. He got a max budget of 1500$ CDN. Now since I am also buying him a DVD player(progressive), I will love to get him a TV that can do 480p. Now with 1500$ I can't go in HDTV but something better than a regular flatscreen TV will be nice something around 32"

Any tips on this one?

Why can't you go HDTV? Samsung makes a 30" wide and a 32" 4:3 for under $1000 US. Both do 480p/1080i.
