Anybody have an Idea about what the 4802 discounted price will be when they release the 4803. I found the hk avr 8000 for 1200.00. I am getting real antzy. Somebody please calm me down.

I have never heard of a Denon 4803.

If you use the 30% dicount on the (3802) Denon 3802 as a rough estimate, the 4802 may be available for $1750 when the new model hits the street.

The HK 8000 is tempting at ~ $1200. Even though I am tempted myself to try to snag one at ~ $1,200, I am troubled about a couple things. When HK first released the 8000 the list price was $2,800. A while later they lowered the list price to $2,500. Now they are available new for $1,200 from an authorized dealer.

This makes me uneasy. I guess because it seems to say:
    1) The mark-up on HK is huge.
    2) The 8000 did not sell anywhere near their expectations.

Last, I've looked at a lot of threads on this forum and while people like the sound quality, there are a lot of posts about people having problems with HK receivers. The remote seems to one of the most consistent complaints. But there are also reports of HK recivers (mostly the 520) turning off once in a while for no apparent reason.

What this says to me is: HK does not do enough Beta testing.

    Hope this helps.

The HK 8000 cost is well above $1200. They must have dropped the cost at HK themselves...much like Denon reduced the cost of the 3802 after a few months. This coincided with the drop in MSRP.
