I recently sold the 32" Aquos we had in our bedroom as it was simply too small for the distance from which we are viewing. I have decided that I want to go with a 45" Aquos but upon further investigation, I have found that there are more model numbers that I realized.

The 32" that I had came with a "stand-alone" box, an A/V center so to speak (I don't know the proper name for it to be honest). At first I thought the A/V center was going to be a pain but I actually got to liking it so if I wanted to hook up a laptop, playstation, or whatever - I could just do it on the box rather than having to fish around behind the TV (or take it off the wall altogether).

So, ideally I would like to find:
    • 45" Aquos
    • Black
    • Capable of 1080p (I think they all support it)
    • Side detachable speakers
    • With a stand-alone A/V box

The models I have found are:
    1. LC-45GD4U
    2. LC-45GD5U
    3. LC-45GD6U
    4. LC-45GX6U
    5. LC-45GD7U[/list=1]

Obviously the LC means liquid crystal, 45 is the size, but what does the rest mean? Which one do I really want? I have looked on Sharp's web site but they really only have information for the newest models.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Can nobody really break down what the different model numbers are? I didn't realize it was *that* mysterious.

Guess not Jason... You would think Sharp would have something in their FAQ. Nobody responded to my question too!

It's not like nobody has a Sharp I think!

Where was your thread? Did you ask a similar question?

I've been trying to figure out the current differences between the 7U, 6U, 5U, 4U and then theres the 5BU and theres like a 5AU and ad infinitum... Insane, if you ask me, I can't imagine I'm the only person looking at Sharp's website trying to figure this out. I rather not trust salespeople so I'm trying to figure this out before I go to a store... Looks like I have no choice now...

I imagine it has something to do with side speakers / bottom speakers, cable card / no cable card, black / silver.

Maybe I'll call them - I completely agree with your feeling of salespeople.
