i was playing with my test tones tonight and noticed my right rear channel is no longer working. checked all the connections and everything is fine. looks like my sony str-db930 finally gave up on me just outside of it's warranty. i guess the pre-section is still fine and i have an aragon 8008bb on the way to finish out the 5 channels. i'm not terribly upset but it would have been nice if i could have sold it once i find out which pre-pro will replace it. so goes the world.

UPDATE: apparently i didn't the connections too close...everything is fine now

A few years back I had a harman/kardon Avr25mk that lost its prologic mode. Like you it was a few months past waranty. I took it to Circuit City where I bought it and asked if there was anyway I could get it fixed under waranty even tho it was officialy expired. CC told me that was between you and harman/kardon. I then called h/k, and after explaining my situation, they gave me a waranty repair authorization # and fixed it for free.

Not that you probably want to hear this, but I had a Sony DE series receiver go out (only the rear channels would work) about 6 weeks out of warranty and got nowhere with Sony. The only thing they "offered" me was to have it fixed at a Sony authorized repair center for $150. I could drop it off or ship it there (my expense). I declined and now own a Denon.

I have to agree. Getting anything from Sony is going to be tough. Good luck tho.
